1. Pharaoh represents Satan, self, and natural man.
2. Negatively the wilderness signifies a place of wandering, but positively it signifies a realm of separation.
3. He separated them so that they may hold a feast with Him and offer sacrifice to God.
4. First stage of bargaining is to ignore God's demand to let the children of Israel go.
5. Second stage is to sacrifice in the land of Egypt.
6. Third stage is to go to sacrifice in the wilderness, but not go very far away. Parents tell their children, "But you are too extreme in following the Lord. You don't need to go to meetings several times a week. Isn't an hour on Sunday morning enough? It's all right to believe in Jesus, but don't be fanatical about it."
7. Forth stage is to let the men go to serve God, but not the young and old.
8. Fifth stage is to let them go, but not with their flocks and herds.
9. "All that is plundered from the world should be brought to the Lord Jesus and wasted upon Him. To do this is to be saved to the uttermost."
